Building Connections: DAI Utah’s Enduring Partnership with Think Architecture

At DAI Utah, we believe that the strongest communities are built on meaningful connections. For more than 15 years, we’ve partnered with Think Architecture to bring this belief to life — creating more than 30 communities that reflect our shared vision of thoughtful design, collaboration, and lasting impact.

A Mission Rooted in Connection

From the beginning, DAI’s mission has centered on connection — not only between streets and buildings, but between people and the places they call home. This commitment extends to every part of what we do: fostering trust with city partners, maintaining strong relationships with our design and construction teams, and creating opportunities for residents to connect in their neighborhoods.

As DAI Partner Joe Salisbury explains, “We’re about living our values and weaving that into everything we do.” From wider sidewalks and park benches near mailboxes to the placement of community trails and gathering spaces, DAI’s developments are intentionally designed to encourage natural interaction.

Listening, Learning, and Living Our Values

DAI continuously seeks to understand how residents experience their communities. Through our independent “Love Where You Live” survey, we set a goal of 90% resident satisfaction — and recent results show we’re close, with 87% of residents expressing approval. This feedback reaffirms that the details matter — and that thoughtfully designed neighborhoods can truly foster belonging and pride.

The Orchard at Farnsworth Farms: A Model for Connection

One of the best examples of our partnership with Think Architecture is The Orchard at Farnsworth Farms in Sandy, Utah — an award-winning mixed-use community that blends modern design with historic charm. The Orchard balances residential, retail, and green spaces within a walkable, human-centered layout.

A red barn-style clubhouse, orchard-inspired landscaping, community garden boxes, and pedestrian pathways all reflect the area’s agricultural heritage while inviting residents to connect and gather. The result is a neighborhood that feels authentic, beautiful, and connected — a true reflection of DAI’s mission in action.

A Lasting Partnership

Our collaboration with Think Architecture continues to shape communities where people feel at home. Together, we’ve demonstrated that when connection is built into the foundation — from design to development — communities don’t just grow, they thrive.
